Healthy Body, Healthy Mind: Learning about Growth and Development
An educational workshop was organized for students of Classes IV and V on 21 January 2025, focusing on "Learning About Growth and Development." The workshop covered important topics such as good touch and bad touch, personal hygiene and puberty.
The session was led by Dr. Purvi Patel, Director of Pahal Multispecialty Hospital, to equip young students with the knowledge and understanding necessary for their safety and well-being.
In the first part of the workshop, students learned to differentiate between safe, comforting, and appropriate touches and those that make them feel uncomfortable or scared. Emphasis was placed on the importance of trusting their instincts and saying “no” to any uncomfortable touches.
The second segment of the workshop focused on personal hygiene practices and healthy diet. Students were taught the importance of maintaining cleanliness to prevent illnesses and promote overall health.
The final section introduced the topic of puberty, preparing students for the physical and emotional changes they will experience as they grow older. The discussion provided an overview of puberty, explaining why it occurs, the common changes associated with this stage, and reassurance that these changes are a natural part of growing up. Students were also guided on managing these changes and maintaining self-confidence during this transition.
