Astronomy Night Camp
Constellations and Creativity: The Perfect Blend!
The astronomy camp held on 15 February 2025 at DPS Tapi provided Class VIII students with an engaging and enriching experience, blending science, sports and interactive learning.
The camp began with a group photograph, followed by students being divided into six groups for five activity segments. The first segment featured sports like football, cricket, tug of war, and kabaddi, promoting teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness.
The highlight of the camp was a session by Mr. Prakash Dey from the Surat Astronomy Club. He delivered an insightful presentation on space organizations, Indian satellites and celestial phenomena, followed by a mesmerizing sky-gazing session. Under expert guidance, students identified winter constellations like Orion, Gemini, and Canis Major, as well as planets like Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. They also captured the spectra of stars such as Sirius, Betelgeuse, and Aldebaran.
In the third segment, students participated in innovative learning activities, including Equation Escape, Math Sprint, Vital Capacity Challenge, and Let’s Coordinate, which enhanced their problem-solving skills, coordination, and teamwork.
The fourth segment featured a lively bonfire session with singing and dancing, fostering creativity and camaraderie.
The final segment took place in the morning with a football session and a nature walk, where students identified birds, trees, and flowers while enjoying the fresh air.
The camp provided a platform for scientific exploration, teamwork, and innovation, helping students develop communication, analytical, and technological skills, contributing to their all-around development.
