Adolescent Growth & Development

The Understanding Adolescents' Growth session was conducted for Classes VI and VII students on 24 February 2025. It began with an overview of adolescence, a crucial developmental stage that occurs between the ages of 11 and 13. The Guidance Counselor highlighted the significance of this period, emphasising it as a transformative phase where individuals transition from childhood to adulthood. This transition encompasses various physical, emotional, cognitive, and social changes.

During the session, several key topics were discussed. The Counselor addressed both the advantages (such as access to information) and challenges (like cyberbullying) associated with technology use, encouraging students to engage with technology responsibly. The discussion also covered educational challenges faced by adolescents, including academic pressures and balancing schoolwork with extracurricular activities. Social influences were explored in detail, particularly the impact of peer relationships on behaviour and self-esteem. Additionally, students received guidance on navigating friendships and effectively dealing with bullying.

In conclusion, the session aimed to equip students with essential knowledge about adolescence while providing them with tools to foster personal growth and resilience during this developmental phase.
