Sumul Dairy Visit
Classes IX and XII (Commerce) students visited the Sumul Dairy Plant, one of the leading dairy cooperatives in Gujarat on 9 April 2025. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications, especially in Economics, Business Studies and Science subjects. Upon arrival, a detailed orientation session was conducted, introducing students to the history, objectives and operations of the cooperative movement and how Sumul has empowered thousands of dairy farmers in the region. The students were then taken on a guided tour of the plant. They observed various stages of milk processing including pasteurization, homogenization, chilling, packaging and quality control. The visit highlighted the importance of hygiene, technology integration and cold chain management in the dairy industry. The interactive Q&A session with the technical staff further enhanced student understanding. Students asked thoughtful questions and received practical, real-world answers that deepened their appreciation of the dairy sector’s role in the Indian economy. The visit to Sumul Dairy was a fruitful learning experience that inspired students to look beyond textbooks and understand the complex mechanisms of production, cooperation, and innovation in the dairy industry. It truly embodied the spirit of "learning by doing".
